Bought a little kit for the kids to assemble. What a disaster. Couldn't even get the walls to hold up and that's after leaving them sit for an hour.

For you to create what you did...My hats off to you.

Cussing at a little gingerbread house doesn't seem very Christmassy smileys/frown.gif

Last year at work we had a timed gingerbread house competition

among all the sites in the US (via teleconference. Seeing that we were given graham crackers and we were in TN, I suggested let's do a trailer park gingerbread house. Sounds easy enough, right? WRONG!!! What a freaking disaster. Mainly, we weren't given enough crackers to do much of anything and the 'trimmings' were much help. And they gave us regular canned icing which honestly, I think I could have done more with melted butter!

Tess...it's not too late to make your own glue (Royal icing)

Royal Icing:
2 egg whites, room temperature
2.5 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Beat for 7 minutes with a standing mix or 10 minutes with a hand-held.

Our Hotel Capt. Cook chef puts up a whole gingerbread village, with train. here is a webcam link.

picture is not too clear, but it's quite the project and we look forward to it every year. The Pastry Chef has an email contact if anyone has any questions. might be a good resource for tricky GBH issues.
