Because of my blog and Twitter, I am frequently approached by PR companies. Often I'm not interested, but in the past, I've said yes to preserve the relationship.
I'm trying to be more selective and when an opportunity came to tour a new Big Name coffee place with a new drive through design concept, I dashed off a quick note, "Thanks for thinking of me, but I don't drive." (Which is true.) I was so proud of myself! One "no" in the bag.
A few hours later, I received this response, "No problem. We'll hire a car and driver for you. Please select a time for pick up."
Oof!
Note to self: respond with a firm "No," and provide no justification.
