Marilyn, I got good peaches at the FM, but it cost me. $27.50 for 14 (organic) for jam.

Yep, $3.85 lb...the non-organic didn't taste near as good at another stand was $2.50 lb....

both O'Henry yellow peaches...this is why poor people can't afford real food.

If anyone thinks, like I did at first, that a FM would be cheaper than the store, the answer is no. In fact, I've often left the FM and gone to WFs and purchased items cheaper. However, WF had lousy peaches - I've checked several times and of course forget the normal store for good ones.

Local here too...food is expensive here for some reason though..

I'm always amazed when I visit family in SoCal how much cheaper the food is. When I visited mom, when she was still living in her house, I'd spend about $100 less in an average grocery trip.

However, these peaches *were* pricey, but I saw some of the "donut" shaped ones at the all organic mkt for nearly $5 a lb (and they tasted awful).

I don't know, maybe it's the drought?

(I can't think of anything right now priced under a dollar anymore - 97 cents would be a steal.)
