I'm old school
in most things and I'm a devout follower of the KISS Principle. (no that is not some esoteric new religion or cult that Oprah is promoting. just means Keep it Simple)
I love old cars. I've learned to love making things with hand tools even though I had no patience for them when I was younger. Often I enjoy restoring old hand tools even more than making something with them.
I even love my wife more now that she is - AH! You thought I say it... smileys/wink.gif
So I roast my own coffee, in a cast iron skillet no less. I often make coffee on the stove in a mocha pot even... I pickle, grow heirloom (don't get any more "old school" than that) vegetables.
I use a safety razor! (and I love it)
If I could live on Walden Pond and garden and fish for my "daily bread" I'd love that. You ever see the videos about Dick Proenneke? That is a "romantic" notion for me.
And for the record, I'd much prefer your half century+ old roasting pan to any non-stick miracle etc. Though I have to say, the new Circulon are a joy to cook with. So light! Makes me look like I know what I'm doing.
Old School, traditional etc. I'm not knocking that or anyone. I appreciate it but in terms of technology, it mostly sucks to go old school (especially from the administrative/implementation side) and I don't appreciate it. Give me the latest Mac with a huge HD Cinema display any day...
For our purposes here, I'm just pointing out that there are reasons and you can't please everyone. So if there is a problem that I miss and you (anyone) is concerned. Just email me. I will address it promptly.
