Since the frosting reminded me of marshmallows, I broke out the torch and bruleed the frosting. I think that was a welcome change but other wise, I followed the original recipe exactly.

Next time, I'll follow your suggestion and just do a 2 layer cake. I prefer a higher cake to filling ratio.

Love the proportions in the cake (more sugar then flour, extra yolk..etc.) Can tell it is super rich

I would have thought that too but the filling and the frosting were

even richer! Next time I make the frosting (and I will), I'll cut the sugar back by about 1/4 cup. My thinking is that it won't be quite as sweet and allow the flavors of the cake to come forward more.
