Meryl, the Apple Cider Doughnut Cake is wonderful, exactly like eating a doughnut!

question, I made this last night for tomorrow. how did you get the topping to stick? I made the 6 T

of sugar topping, but I can only get about 2 T, maybe, to stick. I want so badly to toss it in a bag and shake it up good----but that would destroy the cake. I was tempted to brush with melted butter---then sprinkle on the topping.

 
I made it on Sunday - I rubbed it into the sides of the warm cake. Some stuck

but most of it was over the top part of the cake.

I agree - it was tempting to put it into a large bag and shake it up as you would a smaller donut. smileys/smile.gif
