Michael and Mimi, and all the other people with disabilities....

I read the thread about the maimed gingerbread cookie cutters and the follow-up posts, and how Michael was disfigured by a car as a child, and how Mimi is in a wheelchair.

Kudos to both Michael and Mimi - you have to accept what life hands you and make the best of it, and it sounds as you both have. Easy for me to say - actually it is, I had bacterial meningitis thirteen years ago, I lived, but lost both my feet, a finger and three fingertips.

I'm so lucky to be here, and have an absolutely healthy sense of myself. If you would like to see for yourself, I blog daily at jansdailydish.blogspot.com/ and in fact, I made a recent video podcast about being an amputee. If you have a sense of humour, check it out by going to jansdailydish.blogspot.com and then scroll all the way down to the November 9th video podcast - if you would like a chuckle, I think you might just enjoy it.

Life is good, laugh at yourself, and at the world around you. It's okay to find amusement in awkward life situations, my friends, really it is. We tend to take ourselves way too serious, sometimes, and laughter is a wonderful thing...

I have other webpages as well, you can access them at munchiebusiness.com

Have a nice evening, enjoy my blog, and it's okay, laugh at it. I certainly do... I'll let you in on a little secret, I was ditzy BEFORE I lost my feet, it makes no difference...

OMG you took my dressing room!!!

hehehe ;o)

Loved your vlog, it was a stitch! I was rofling.)

But what I wanna know is...who's Mo Jackson?? Wow!!

well, thank you, Jan...that is absolutely the first time I've ever snorted out loud laughing when

the topic concerned a disability.

I will FOREVER have this image of you banging your foot into that pole. Forever.

Thank you for that.

I'm so glad I gave you a chuckle, and Mimi, you are TOO funny....

Oh, Marilyn, I have gotten myself into so many predicaments, you have NO IDEA... I call up my girlfriends and tell them my latest, and we all just belly laugh... I'm just so lucky to be alive, that I could care less that I'm footless.

One Easter I fell into a jelly bean display in the grocery store, and literally spilled thousands of jelly beans all over the floor. I got a personal escort to my car by the store manager over that one... I have a million stories...

I truly do live in the moment, and relish each day... And if I can make just one person smile, I'm a happy camper...

Jan...you're awesome! Loved the video...

I can totally relate to the shoe fettish. For years I worked in retail, wearing those cute shoes for 10 hours a day. Then I waited tables for 10 years. Eventually, I broke myself from ever being able to wear cute shoes again. I developed an acute version of plantar fascitis and for months...wore shoes or a brace 24 hours a day (including shoes in the shower and a brace to sleep at night.) Now the only shoe that seems to serve me well is birkenstocks. Granted, I wear purple and some other fun colors, but it's nothing like the Italian imports I used to wear.

I love your attitude. You do what you need to do, right? smileys/smile.gif 4 pairs of socks, hug a pole, you name it! Gives a whole new interpretation of pole dancing, eh?

Thanks for the kind words and the good, ol' fashioned pole kickin'. I am very blessed...

...since the only lasting price (aside from 200 stitches, skin grafts and sticking bandages as a seven-year-old) I pay is a few scars and stares from the curious when I wear shorts, which is most of the time, by the way (my wife loves my legs!).

Keep on a-kickin' Jan!

Michael
