Michael, finally tried the Grapefruit Basil Martini...

Is there a substitute for the EidelfowerLiqueur? I have all the other ingredients in profusion.

And I'm really tired of Mateus, Paul Masson and other ros

Waste not, want not, mon queue!

Only for you, Joe, would I be tasting Elderflower Liqueur at 9:30am!

Since it adds sweetness and a citrus note, you could use the grapefruit peel to infuse simple syrup and use that to taste.

Cheers! I just assumed since there was grapefruit involved it was a morning drink.

No, there is no substitute. It is a very unique flavor and is why this

drink is so special. It's hard to tame grapefruit down, but the combo of the St. Germain and the basil made the grapefruit sit down and be nice.

This is truly a special cocktail!

Mine too! Actually, we're having the

Big-@$$ed Summer Mother of All Cocktail Parties next month and I plan on filling up one of the punch bowls with this one!

Still pondering the other punchbowl contents, but I'm leaning toward margaritas, it being hot and summer and all.

The perky term...

is something that I didn't come up with, actually don't like, but that is how it goes. My pineapple margaritas are condemned to be margahooties.

C'est la vie.

Thanks Joe for giving me permission to enjoy my new summer drink

now in the am!!!! Pink grapefruit juice with cucumber vodka! Very refreshing. Now I don't have to wait until cocktail hour! LOL!
And if you don't have cucumber vodka, take a slice of cucumber, smash the bee jeezs out of it, add vodka and juice, shake and strain.

Try a punchbowl full of the cucumber agua fresca that Marilyn posted

Sooo good! I add either cucumber vodka or citus vodka. Add sparkling lime seltzer Really refreshing!

Cucumber Agua Fresca

4 1/2 cups coarsely chopped seeded peeled cucumbers (about 4 medium)
4 cups cold water
2 cups ice cubes
1 cup sugar (reduce--I use 2 tbls)
2/3 cup fresh lime juice
2 large pinches of salt
(I also added chopped mint one time, basil another, both good additions)

Combine 2 1/4 cups chopped cucumbers, 2 cups water, 1 cup ice cubes, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup lime juice, and 1 pinch of salt in blender. Blend until sugar dissolves and mixture is smooth but slushy, about 2 minutes. Transfer mixture to pitcher. Repeat with remaining chopped cucumbers, 2 cups water, 1 cup ice cubes, sugar, lime juice, and salt.

Place additional ice cubes in 8 glasses. Fill with cucumber drink.

Another pitcher drink for your mega cocktail party

The S. Germain site has a ton of great recipes.
I checked them out to see what to make with my first bottle--bough on sale. smileys/smile.gif

2 limes, sliced into rounds
1 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup (loosely packed) fresh mint leaves plus sprigs for garnish

Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, coarsely mash lemon and lime slices, blueberries, and mint leaves in a large pitcher. Stir in vodka, St-Germain, and 2 cups of ice cubes.

Divide drink among coupe or highball glasses; top with more ice cubes.
Garnish each drink with a mint sprig.
