Michael, I made my cookies this weekend. Would appreciate the address to send them on. Thanks!

Don't forget that we'll each need the 4-part Custom Form

PS Form 2976-A (2006 version), Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note CP 72.

It will include your soldier's full name
EXAMPLE:
SSGT Kevin Taylor
Unit 2050 Box 4190
APO AP 96278-2050

Your full name and address.

Check the box that says this is A GIFT.

Enter the ~ cost of your gift.

Check the ABANDON box if it can't be delivered. Otherwise it will be shipped back home, and then back again, by which time your stuff will be very, very stale.

More later...I've got to go.

I plan to use the same box we used last year for Marilyn's OCD. It is the...

...8 1/2" x 11" x 6" Priority Mail Flat Rate Box.

I just noticed mine says "for domestic use only". I will call the US Postal Service and check if these can be sent overseas.

Michael

Postal Service just confirmed that we CAN use the Flat Rate Priority Mail...

...boxes we used for Marilyn's OCD.

Since the address is an "APO", the rate to send it all the way to DJ in Iraq is going to be the flat rate for domestic mail (on the flat rate box).

If you use a different box, you may pay more for postage, since it is calculated by weight.

PM's on the way,

Michael

I have sent 2 this way, and no problem. The post office folks will help with the custom's form.

Those flat rate boxes are just great for sending goodies. Be careful when packing extras in the box---strong smelling soaps etc will taint the baked goods. I also sent some mint gum in one package and I think that may have flavored my cookies a bit. But do pack those boxes full, full, full---they can be as heavy as you can make them for the same postage price as long as the box is not "distorted full".

Thanks for the info Ang. I used to be...

...distorted full myself. That's when I was overweight to begin with, and then sat down to one of my fil's wonderful Thanksgiving meals!

Michael
