Michael, have you ever tried putting malt into your waffles? I save a little from my brewing supplies and add to the batter. It's a really tasty addition. Also, have you ever tried yeast-raised waffles? That's what we usually make here when we make waffles (unless we're in a hurry that is).

I have done both. The malt is an excellent addition, but my kids prefer...

...the buttermilk version I linked to above.

For yeast-raised, I usually use the Cook's Illustrated recipe. Good and crisp. Tender on the inside. These are my favorites.
