I ordered #10 cans of strawberry, blackberry and raspberry from Thrive. The strawberries are great and edible right from the can, but the blackberries are VERY tart.
HOWEVER, that is EXACTLY what I needed to boost the flavor and reduce the sweetness. I looked online and someone (911?) said to use 1/4 C freeze-dried fruit to 4 cups of icing. Knowing I wanted a bright flavor, I went with a full cup and zapped it in the Vitamix until bored. That took less than 90 seconds. Hand-folded it into the ubersweet icing I had tossed into the freezer in frustration.
WOW! That blackberry flavor just POPS! now and the color is gorgeous, There is just a hint of crunchiness from the seeds...that may go away if I zap it longer, but I don't mind. It reminds me that I'm eating fruit.
Used it on a vanilla cake with a peach/strawberry jam filling.
You get the SAVE, girl!
