and had such a wonderful lunch at The Left Bank:
* leek and bacon tart
* smoked salmon and leek tart
* sauteed green beans with caramelized shallots
* frites (oh wow where they good)
* glasses of Chardonnay and Lillet Blanc with orange slices
We were so full we skipped dessert. I know, can you BELIEVE that??
Afterwards we retired to Susan's home where we experimented with Richard's Pineapple Margahooties, but since we didn't marinate the pineapple in advance and suddenly felt like we were in the mood for rum, they morphed into pineapple rum thingies - wow. Really good on such a hot day! We talked recipes and cooking and travel for just hours and hours, petting Kobe the buttery soft dog (such a sweetie).
Later we went out for happy hour with Susan's DH at the E&O Trading Co and tried every appie on their happy hour menu:
* hoisin spiced ribs
* green onion fry bread with some amazing dipping sauces - mango raita and a curry sesame soy sauce
* spicy fried calamari with a green chili dipping sauce
* Indonesian corn fritters with chili soy dipping sauce
Can you say yum? We were so stuffed and it was a fun day. Next time we need to put out a call to all Bay Area/No Cal folks, or anyone in the are or willing to travel, for a meet up, maybe in September? What do you think??
