1. Quiet weekend/week w/ J. out of town...and it's heating up here, so the only cooking (I use the term loosely) has been in the toaster oven... Speaking of which, I toasted my first bialy today, and I have a question. Where does the cream cheese go?!
2. Dinner last night with Sandra(inNY) at the UES outpost of Szechuan Gourmet. Dumplings and Ma Po Tofu. We mentioned we'd had the pan-fried dumplings at their 39th Street location (with everyone a few weeks ago!) and they were very circumspect about it. (I swear they said, "We don't have a 39th Street location," at first.) But then they relented and let us order the pan-fried dumplings. smileys/smile.gif
3. Pistachio and sour-cherry gelato with my brother yesterday at Arte del Gelato at Chelsea Market, after a 3-mile walk from attempting to see the Tall Ships. (We saw one, plus a departing cruise liner that looked like a moving office building.)
4. Had my favorite sandwich of all time today from a sandwich place a block away: two kinds of cheddar, sprouts, shredded red cabbage, lettuce, tomato, avocado, red onion, all on toasted whole-wheat bread. (I was serious about the not cooking thing.)
5. Went down to the North Cove Marina in Battery Park City today to sit outside, drink iced tea, and do some editing. I like this place because it's so open... Nice breeze, sun on the water, etc. Not a bad way to spend Memorial Day.
6. Our farmers' market opened back up for the summer. I practically hugged the vegetable man and his son.
Hope you all had a good Memorial Day weekend...
