Got my cousin who is over there and he made the following comments after looking at the list from A Soldier's Wish List.
Toiletries are available but not a huge selection of brand. Foods are there but not what they want. Canned tuna and chicken are popular wish list item especially the tuna in the flavor pouches. Crackers. Chocolate is good and can be shipped this time of year - of course he added his preferences - Hershey's kisses with almonds, Special Dark, M&Ms (any kind, plain, peanut, any but he went to the trouble of putting peanut butter M&Ms in bold so I think they must be really popular and hard to get), & fudge. Oh and Gummy Savers candy. AAA batteries are hard to find but other sizes not so hard. Black socks are good for boots but should be the heavy type and wool is preferred over cotton. White socks for the running shoes in their 'off' hours and cotton is okay for those. He got a kick out of the crayons & coloring books and wondered if someone wasn't doing recruiting a little too early if they needed those (but I know that my husband's coworkers that were over there wanted them to give the kids to 'make friends' with them). He said Soduko is VERY popular over there now. Cup a soup mixes and microwave meals.
And of course he said the favorite thing is anything homemade. We have even made him pecan pie (his absolute fave) and shipped to him.
So while I am doing these, I am doing him a box as well as the two soldiers we adopted from A Soldier's Wish List. Think my work is cut out for the next week or so.
