My Boston based nephew is meeting me in NY. He wants to eat Thai food. Any recommends. TIA

I'd recommend Republic at Union Square, but it can be very loud and the seats are concrete. smileys/frown.gif

The food is quite good, though. But it's not the kind of place where you want to linger--or, rather, if you do, you wish they'd hand out pillows!

I'd read about SriPraPhai in Woodside (Queens), and many people would say it's the best,

and I found it very good when I went with my brother about a year ago, but I honestly don't think it's worth the trek to Queens unless you feel like an adventure. smileys/irritated.gif

Wondee Siam II is on 9th Ave. at 54th, and while it's quite small, if you go at an off-peak hour, the noise level should be ok. The food is good (although the green curry is a little on the watery side)--extremely fresh ingredients, and the service is always good. It's not as good as SriPraPhai, but it's on a par with it (and without the 30-minute trip on the 7 train). But I do think Republic does a better Pad Thai than Wondee Siam. Ah, well. Sorry I can't give more apt recommendations... I just think there's no high-end Thai in Manhattan--it's all in Queens or Brooklyn.

Thanks Erin for the information. I will let you know what we did. (I can do that when I see you!!)

I was going to reccomend Siam II also. I have not been in a few years, but

we always enjoyed it.
