My daughter will be working in Brussels for 2 weeks. She is alone and I would love some restaurant .

recs if anyone has them. She says she is staying in the European quarter near the European Union

buildings.

Any ideas would be appreciated. She also has

a weekend free so more than culinary ideas are fine.

TIA

I don't have restaurant recs, Elaine, but I recommend a day trip to the canal city of Brugge/Bruges.

It's a gorgeous town, famous for lace, and is fun to explore for a day. Excellent medieval architecture, and just an hour from Brussels by train.

I'm pleased to see Le Grand Cafe in Brussels is still in business since the 80's when I ate there.

Hey, I might just go there again! I also noticed that the place was packed with locals. My travel agent friend and I enjoyed our dinner and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Dining al fresco is also available. Sorry, but I don't know if it's in the district your daughter will be staying in.

I can't find a website for the cafe, but here's a link and it's also on FB.
