My jar of green mole has leaked slightly. I don't even know what this should taste like,

never having cooked with it before.

I was so thrilled to find it in my larder so that I would not have to make it from scratch. We must have brought it back from California 2 years ago.

So the jar is 2 years old and there is a little evidence of oil just under the lid on the outside of the jar. I sure don't want to make this from scratch, it's in the plan for dinner tonight and I don't think I'll find a store in this country that will sell a replacement.

Normally, I don't take chances but has anyone eaten leaky mole without dying?

Anyone got any ideas? It's one of those jars with the clamp-on lid.

Hmmm, 2 years is a long time. I'd toss it out, but if you're deterimined, open it

and see it there is any sign of discoloration or oxydation.

Marg, I would err on the side of safety. Toss it.. It would be easier to change your menu...

than spend time in the ER.

I needed someone to tell me that. Actually I did throw it out and spent 2 hours

making the mole. The recipe was almost identical to the one RVB posted, but no tomato. I don't have a printer connection right now so I had to use a book & could not that post.

Sometimes I find it difficult to resist when there is no apparent damage. In the end, I always chuck it.

But wow, we really didn't like all that chocolate in it.

(I should call them. Even 2 years later, it shouldn't have leaked. Good idea.)
