that will satisfy her intense love of all things strawberry in desserts and won't make me crazy since I don't really like to bake very much.

I could do strawberry shortcake and she'd be just fine, but thought I should maybe put just a teensy more effort into it for a 16th birthday cake.

i know this mayseemcomplicated, but its not: Strawberry cream cake

I've made this several times and its basically a vanilla cake filled with strawberries and frosted with a cream cheese/whipped cream frosting. SO good and looks so special. Its in our T&T section, with pictures. I don't layer it like they show, with frosting just between and on top - I cover the whole thing and save a few strawberries to decorate the top.

I have a great recipe for Strawberry Charlotte - No-bake, made with ladyfingers. Will post

it if you're interested. It's delicious, and beautiful looking.

Really! 7 cups confectioners' sugar and so on..... I think that strawberries should shine over the

extreme amount of sugar, etc., etc. IMHO.

Strawberry shortcake - my own

Make any 2 layer white cake that you like.

Top the first layer with unsweetened whipped cream and sliced strawberries. (If you like you can add as many layers as you wish}. Cover with the second layer. Cover the entire cake with whipped cream and top with the largest strawberries you can find.
So easy and so tasty.

I use about one container of whipped cream. I do not sweeten it but it could be done. Also I do
not add sugar to the strawberries because they are so sweet as is - but again your preference.

I didn't give the cake recipe because I do it on
Passover and use a matza based cake.

If you think your daughter wouldn't care about boxed over scratch...go for it! BUT....

7 cups of confectioners sugar is more than twice what I'd use - UGH! After you blend the other ingredients, add the sugar a 1/2 cup at a time and taste before adding more - you only want to sweeten it, not make your teeth fall out smileys/smile.gif

Carianna, do a search using Strawberry in the Title and GayR as posted by. She has posted a few

wonderful Strawberry cake recipes. I, too, am not a baker, nor a sweet eater.

I love strawberry shortcake. I actually like some mixes, but the recipe w/ the jello sounds too sweet for me. (That is just me.....) The texture might be wonderful!

Let me know what you decide. Seriously check out Gays posts for strawberry (or strawberries) in the title. I know I have used a few in the past.

Happy b-day to your daughter!!!

Or if you want to try something different from a "cake" Meryl posted a strawberry cream pie.

That was YUMMY! I will search for the recipe when I get home.
