My Paris Blog

a friend talked me into starting a blog for my trip to Paris so I won't have to send separate email and pictures to family and friends. I've never done anything like this before. I don't even keep a journal/diary because I don't write well.

Anyway here is a link if anyone is that bored. I will be updating it while in Paris with pictures and probably what we have eaten that day. After all any trip, business or pleasure, is all about food!

Oh, and I've acknowledged some people who gave me travel advice from here.

How fun!

Have a great trip and I look forward to following along on your blog. I tried to leave a message there but got up in a string of registrations and finally bailed. LOL

Bon voyage!

BTW...while you are there, the Salons de Saveurs IS in fact, on in Paris. The big gourmet food expo

It's easy to get to by Metro; if you're interested, I can dig up the link again. 8E entry.

Okay. Here's a little blurb from a post about the one that occurred 2 years ago, and then the

link to the current one. Porte de Champerret is right on the Metro line about 10 minutes from Opera. Very easy to get to. Wish I were going to be there then.

Salon Saveurs des Plaisirs Gourmands / Food Fair France

Filed under: events, food and drinks, health, paris

Foodies and Food Bloggers! Celebrate the arrival of Spring the gastronomic way. Make sure to catch this amazing gourmet Parisian food fair, Salon Saveur, where you’ll happily meander through a maze of hundreds of stalls presenting yummy products big and small. Meet food experts from France, Spain and Italy showing off their best stuff particularly their interpretation of the art of cuisine. Sample regional delicacies, wines and champagnes, and shop for fun food gifts. Tastings are free so be certain to pace yourself (start out early!) if you tend to overdo it. There is a lot to see (about 350 exhibitors) and it will get crowded with an estimated attendance of about 32,000 visitors, so if you’d like to avoid a massive crowd, try to arrive as early as possible. Also to note: 3 restaurants are open during the fair: an Italian restaurant, an oyster bar and a Basque restaurant.

This is a twice-a-year event held in May and later in December.

Woo hoo! Thanks for the callout in the blog.

I'll follow along with the posts. You guys look great in your picture--very French. smileys/smile.gif

What an excellent idea Michael. Now we can feel like we are with you.....

I know you will have a wonderful time.
A tip I had from Froomes years ago. Fold, then roll clothes. So many more items can be fitted into the case this way. AND.... I do this with smaller items, underwear etc that does not matter if it gets a little creased,...after rolling, pack tightly into a zip lock bag then squeeze out all the air. Makes more room, take a clean ziplock with you and use it for unwashed clothes you want to keep to wash a few days later.....Although it sounds as if you will be staying in one place.
Can't wait to read your blog. Have fun, eat lots and enjoy Paris in spring-time.

Michael, I'll look forward to reading it! Which of these two handsome guys is you?

Why, thank you, Joe! I'm not sure how Miss Manners would like...

me to answer that question. I'm the one on the right with glasses. The one who looks like he hasn't missed a meal in his life. Ed is the slim one with dark hair who actually eats more but has a much higher metabolism which is totally unfair. He is awfully handsome, isn't he?

Thanks! Now that you mention the tip about folding and rolling

I recall reading that a long time ago. We are lucky to have a washer and dryer in the apartment we're renting.

Such a great idea Michael! Will be fun to "travel" with you. The caption

under your picture says that Ed is on the right and Michael is on the left? Have a fun and safe trip!

Oh, for goodness sake! I don't know my right from my left...

I do know who is who in the picture, however. I just added the caption. I sure hope I get on the right plane.

Thanks, Orchid.
