make some this year guys. I am so in love with it and can't find enough ways to use it, hic' I am surruptioously scoooooping some, hic' straight outa the jar when ever I go to the fridge! HIC'

I only did one tongue (with a husband trying not to eat salt and a daughter who has cut down drastically on salt) I thought that I'd try the brine with less than half the salt stated in the recipe. I was afraid it would not work. It DID!, it was so good I am going to do two more.

So funny how the grandies went urgh! tongue not for me but when the meat was out, sliced and served days later they kept coming back for more with "Nan this meat is yummy, what is it?"

I have this morning free to do some things around the house, it is such a luxury. My first thing is check out this site, next go to the vegie patch and see if anything is surviving and then check the chickens. The eggs have got less, must go talk to the fowls about this, LOL!

Have a great New Year everyone. Hugs J

Love your "reports", Joanie- you got the grandkids to eat tongue!

Oh how I hated tongue when I was a little kid. My Mom made it and jelled it in aspic then sliced it and served on lettuce leaves in the Summer. I still react badly to it even though NOW I know it is delicious. Bravo to you for getting the kids to eat pickled tongue.

We are close to those who raise chickens for eggs and I'm sure you know that in the months when there is less daylight they slow down their production. Even here that happens; the ladies are more or less on "vacation" right now.

Happy New Year!
