despite getting the vaccine last year. It's so infectious and many parents are not vaccinating their kids. My boss got it from his kids who got it from their neighbors who don't vaccinate. The vaccine is good for 3 years but even with it the bacteria is so contagious even healthy people can contract it. Apparently my immune system is poor due to a severe Vitamin D deficiency.

So, stay healthy! Get vaccinated!

I've only been sick a week, glad I went in early to be tested. Hopefully I should be well for work sometime next week. Meantime the CDC recommends lots of fluids, soup, steamed vegetables and fruit. Glad I can eat black and raspberries and grapes. The Lord of the Rings is on TV and I'm sleeping when I'm not coughing.

Geez, I just read the adult symptoms and it read like the past 3 months of my life.

I'm a walking time line for whooping cough!

Appointment with pulmonologist Wednesday. I'm not coughing anymore. I wonder if I can still get the vaccine?

I would ask them, it's a good idea I think. Been reading the CDC web page

and perhaps I'm biased but I think everyone should get the vaccine.

Wow. Feel better soon, Heather! Luckily, when I got a tetanus shot

the other week when I stepped on a sliver of glass (!), he said the vaccine included the pertussis vaccine too.

Oh dear, severe vit D deficiency? In California? Who would'a guessed? ;o) Here in always-cloudy NY state, mine is "8" and I am now on 50,000 units/week (green capsule) supplements!

Oh Heather, feel better...I had it as a kid and was sick as a dog, I still remember it.

I'll have to ask my dr about the vaccine, I'm due for a flu shot. I have severe vit D deficiency too. I blame the sunscreen and because I'm so pale I stay outta the sun.

Thanks for the heads up, but so sorry as to how you know about it. smileys/frown.gif

Oh Heather,

I hope you are on the mend soon. I recommend getting NetFlix. We recently got rid of TV to save money. Now we have Netflix. I love it.
I was never one to watch TV during the day. I just recently watched Frazier from beginning to end. We have watched recent movie; The Hunger Games. But my absolute favorite has been Leave It To Beaver, Malcolm in the Middle, and by far my favorite, Breaking Bad.'
Feel better soon!

I'm feeling better today, thank you! Netflix has been a lifesaver for sure.

I finished all the British murder mystery shows and wish they had more than 2 seasons of Inspector Lewis on there. Now I'm watching The 4400, scifi fun. I can't sleep much due to coughing so it's perfect. It's on autoplay so I can go back and restart when I fall asleep. The chicken soup is helping.
