My stepdaughter brought these two sauerkrauts to the BBQ last night.

She brought the dill pickle kraut and the smoked jalapeno kraut. They were delicious! I especially loved the dill pickle one. The jalapeno was really really hot, and I love spicy foods. They have other flavors available too. They cost about $7/pouch, but well worth it. It has me wanting to make my own sauerkraut again. They carry them at a new store that recently opened up; all organic. Yay! If you see these definitely give them a try.http://farmhouseculture.com/flavors/

Interesting! I started making sauerkraut and other fermented foods

and am so enamored that I also started making crocks to ferment them in!

I will have to go looking for recipes to make the spicier versions.

Thanks, I would love to find some good organic sauerkraut. I printed out the customer request form

and am taking it to one of our local health food stores.

Judy and Dawn, it would not be hard to replicate any of those flavored sauerkrauts

I doubt the flavors were imparted as the fermenting process was happening- or perhaps it was done just at the end; my guess is that when the fermentation was finished, the flavorings went in. I bet you could easily make any of them. I know others have different recipes for making sauerkraut, but I use just salt and cabbage. Nothing else- I will try putting smoked jalapeño in part of a batch next time- I always use caraway in part of a batch. Fun with sauerkraut- who would have thunk it?
