My thanks to Marg in Canada for sharing her asafoetida (I STILL can't pronounce that word)

It's one of those ingredients where the recipe calls for 1/4 tsp asafetida spice but says in parenthesis "(a poor substitute: use 1 teaspoon garlic powder)

Doesn't that kind of endorsement give you a warm fuzzy?

I'll be using the a(long word) for Dum Monj, but if anyone has other recipes, please share. Marg also shared sumac, so I'm looking for ideas for that as well.
