my menu for my night of discussing "The Help". How fun is that! We'll see if it really comes to be, but it was fun just being asked. I had chosen a bridge club theme for finger foods and such. also, chocolate pie tarts!

"The Help" is my book club choice as well. I would love to hear your menu

I'm not brave enough to serve the chocolate Pie - although I laughed when I read that. Think I will serve caramel cake. We don't have dinner though, only appetizers.
Congratulations on your achievement!!

yes. the jr league ladies would get together for bridge and the "Help" would make the food and

serve. I think it was after a bridge game that some silver went "missing", which is a big theme in the book. Anyway, i chose the bridge theme because I didn't want to tackle fried chicken etc.

Ah, thanks. I downloaded the book from Audible.com, but I can't get the first segment to load.

I have everything except maybe the first 1/3 of the book. I started listening to the part I did have but loved it so much, I stopped so I could pick it up from the beginning. Haven't gotten around to it yet. smileys/smile.gif

the audio version is so good! love to hear the accents. try your library. we have free audio books

through the library with ListenAlaska and it downloads to my ipod---takes awhile though. I think most libraries offer these audio book downloads now if you have a library card.

deviled eggs, pimento cheese sandwiches, date nut bread sandwiches, chicken salad w/grapes in

lettuce cups. stuffed celery. green jello salad. cheese straws and spiced nuts for appetizers. and I served sweet tea and coca cola in small bottles and also wine. assorted tassies, lemon, pecan, and chocolate, and caramel cake cupcakes. and I told the ladies I would be counting my silver after they left---if you read the book you will know.
