My W-E-E-K-E-N-D Six (tee hee, you'll see why I spelled it out)

I made a pork roast in the crockpot because it was soooo hot (a record-breaking 93) yesterday and I wanted to cook the pork. We have pulled pork. Good on hot dog buns with homemade barbeque sauce.

Tried Marg's/Sylvia's asparagus spears at http://eat.at/swap/forum/index.php?action=display&forumid=1&msgid=123653 using bacon instead. Good!

DH also made CathyZ's coconut rice to go with Indonesian chicken with sriracha sauce. It will also go well with some leftover pork roast and vegetables, I'm hoping.

Looking through some of my new cookbook(let)s, came up with a good idea for a cake, but no occasion to make it for ( Caramel frosting sand, blue jello lake, picks of sandals, beach balls, and sunglasses that I already have. I guess it could be a "welcome summer" cake...

Plans are to try a recipe for carb-free moussaka sometime this week. I have all of the ingredients, and really must get back on the low-carb wagon!

Finally got the plants into the community garden - grape and beefsteak heirloom tomatoes, parsley, chives, lavender, and thyme that are in there from last summer, a single bell pepper plant, and chard started from seed. We'll see if the cilantro or the dill comes back, and if so I can transfer them in there too. Wish I could plant pennies...

And 2 NFR:!!! The season of crazy drivers has begun. Just because you are going 50 mph in the parking lot, Mr. Shopper, does not mean that I wasn't careful about pulling out into the driving lane! Arrgggh, that type of arrogance makes me so mad.

They had Wheel of Fortune auditions (well, applications) at a local mall this weekend and DH and I went. Assuming they want interesting people (like I'd ever go, anyway!!), we put down crazy occupations/hobbies; I am a cat trainer. Well, technically that's true..., my cat even knows a couple of phrases in French - started doing that when we didn't want her to know what we were saying. DH put that he was in clown school, but deciding that he might be perjuring himself under California law (like we'll ever get to California!), promptly erased it.

Not strange at all, sweetie. My dogs understand our language, like when we talk

about taking the dogs out for a WALK. They go crazy when we say the magic word "walk".(we have two dogs). So we have started talking to each other in pig latin so the dogs won't understand what we are talking about smileys/bigsmile.gif

Episode Weekend VI the saga continues...my KA mixer broke...again...

really the only thing continuing is my frustration with this Mixer-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

The Dark Lord of mixerdom.

The one that keeps falling apart. (Yes, it's to the point I'm mixing movie metaphors.)

The hinge pin shifted, like always, but this time it wouldn't go back, like always. (Insert 30 minutes of attempts.)

This has happened before. Deep breaths. It's late, I've had to go to the store twice because I didn't check if I had enough flour. This threw the whole Game of Thrones/Mad Men timeline off, but I had plenty of evening left. Only one more double batch of cookies to make even if they are the slightly time consuming Peanut Butter Surprise ones. No problem, after two trips to the store, I'll just watch Game of Thrones first to calm down a bit.

OMG, Game of Thrones! OMG!

And after that...this, this Dark Lord Tilt-a-Whirl.

Per the internet, (ha, how many good stories start *there*) I tipped our lord over and loosened his set screw. He didn't complain. Of course he laughed heartily when I righted him only to find the hing pin is now almost completely undone. In other words: much worse. I take a deep breath and whisper, this is ok, this is to be expected. No problem.

Yeah right.

Did I mention I can now lift the entire head off the base? No? My bad. So, yep that's where we are. And with all screws loose, including mine, one should just be able to wiggle the mixer head around till the hinge pin slides in place. One would think. The internet says so. The KA video barely mentions it because it's-so-easy. Simple. Especially since one can look in there with a flashlight and see everything should line up, but well of course that would be too easy. I recall this from the last time Dark Lord (shakes fist in air!!), but sadly don't recall how I managed to align it. I only recall it took hours and I'm only into hour 3 with this.

So...the sage continues and if anyone has any tricks to advise how to line the head/stand up when it seems like it should and can't find any reason it's not working, I'd appreciate some tips. Thank goodness I recorded Mad Men.

The Dark Lord awaits...I shall return, wish me luck...I'm going in!!!!!!!

Update 11:53pm: Vengeance is mine!

I think you should make that cake "just because", it sounds adorable!

why not make a fun dinner out of it?

Cracking up over your Wheel of Fortune auditions! I always giggle when they introduce the contestants. Larry is an Accountant who likes nude beach volleyball (Larry smiles benignly)...

My weekend six is more like a weekend 3:

Went out for ramen friday night and couldn't eat all of it, this place serves a bowl of rice alongside the ramen so when you finish your noodles and goodies you pour the broth over the rice and eat that. This is insane! I brought most of the broth home with the rice. Ramen tonkotsu (pork) broth reheated the next morning with rice for breakfast is a mighty fine thing. I promptly took a nap afterwards.

Didn't feel like grocery shopping again - it's amazing I have been able to subsist on my vast pantry for so long now, although I really should get more vegetables. So I thawed a massive 2# porkchop, made a yellow coconut curry with a huge almost sprouting onion, 2 rather sad carrots and frozen lime leaves, perfectly serviceable - I made this in my tagine which works great but was rather polynational. I still can't find my jasmine rice - did I finish it? - and the sauce was really soupy so I added some broken up spaghetti to the tagine and they cooked and thickened up the sauce just right. Sort of a bizarre meal but tasted fantastic.

I got sucked into watching Sons of Anarchy. I thought I would hate it by my pt gal said it was really good and she was right. I didn't do anything else but watch that show on Netflix.

Maria...my apologies for giggling out loud at your lordly mishaps. In the Game of KA, either

you win....or you die.
