My weekend six

DH flew to MI yesterday to visit his mom & bring her car back so I sort of have the weekend to myself but DD is having one of her 'moments' (Bring me a drink someone!)

1) Cleaned the pantry and figure out what has attracked a mouse - ten when hubby gets back he has to seal the hole where I saw it come in from behind the tv.

2) Company coming Thursday so getting the house cleaned, want to decorate, and figure out what to cook and what I can make ahead of time.

3) I'm starving - I want seafood and lots of it.

4) I HAVE to work on finishing the family and friends cookbook - must finish!!!

5) Start baking and cooking goodies

6) I watched 'Rise of the Southern Biscuit' again last night and I am on a biscuit binge - really want to try the biscuits at Lynn's Paradise Cafe in Louisville - they look so yummy!

My weekend six

Is it Saturday again already?!

- oven-shopping; got it down to GE - now, glasstop or coil...

- drove to a cookie walk (a bit of a drive) only to find out that I had the wrong weekend - it's always the week after Thanksgiving, so I didn't even check online this time. So that'll be on the calendar for next Saturday.

- uncluttering the kitchen to prepare for the new oven... why can't I keep my kitchen looking like the ones in Better Homes and Gardens?... a neat kitchen is a sign of a sick mind (or a mind attached to someone who doesn't do much cooking or baking). Yeah, that's it...

- made cranberry chicken in the crockpot - very good; I completely forgot about our electric frying pan in the cupboard, so I have more options than I realized. Making Meryl's chocolate cranberry muffins (should be in T&T) --- or should it be Brother Rick's Cranberry- Orange ones (that should be in T&T too!) for pot-luck brunch with friends tomorrow

- local Christmas shop is selling hot cider and freshly made donuts outside their store from a little truck - puts me in the mood for ho-ho-ho season (now all we need is the snow!)

- Melissa, I'm always on a biscuit binge!

When we remodeled our kitchen (took 2 months) I cooked meals in

one of the bathrooms (converted for the duration into a second kitchenette) using an electric frying pan, microwave, and toaster oven. We had great meals and I had a (fleeting) guilty thought maybe I didn't really need a new kitchen.
I LOVE my new kitchen, it has everything I wanted.

My Saturday Six

Ordered a few things from Amazon, including a Bob Marley c.d. to go with some Jamaican curry powder, jerk marinade paste & hot sauce for a small gift. Also ordered a CASE of La Victoria canned diced and peeled jalapenos. Love the things-they're done like regular canned mild green chiles. Not very hot. Like adding them to lots of things. Have a really hard time finding them in stores. Will share some with my mom & sister.

Looked online and on Netflix & the Dallas Library System trying to find a reasonable copy of the old Shirley Jones/Lloyd Bridges movie "Silent Night, Lonely Night". Would really like to see it and they never show it on t.v. anymore. The few copies out there are ridiculous-people are asking $60 or more for them.

Learned that the "clean from the top down" rule does not include washing walls. If you have pets and don't do the floor first you get hair on the walls.

Read, took a nap. Drank too much coffee.

Was totally lazy and had summer sausage, cheese & crackers for dinner with two Andes Mint cookies for dessert - man-o-man are those things wickedly good. Better even than Thin Mints or Mystic Mints.

Planned my list for the grocery store that keeps sending me coupons for $10 off a $35 dollar purchase.

Weekend Six

First, tho, I have to ask, WHERE did my weekend go?

1. Dog food has to be made.

2. Grocery shopping...adding holiday baking supplies to the list.

3. Pot of chicken soup.

4. Dinner out on Friday at our favorite mexican place...who knew they'd have a mariachi band playing Roll Out the Barrel.

5. Mini Panettone and Jalapeno-Cheddar rolls. Perfect cold weekend for bread baking.

6. First batch of holiday cookies. Chocolate no-bakes, my son's favorites. Don't know if anyone else will get any...there may not be any left by tomorrow.

weekend six too

1. lost my cooking mojo today. made shortbread cookies with 1/2 cup less flour. star cookies spread awfully and then I realized the mistake. will knead in the extra flour into the remainder of the double batch of dough. forgot the butter in first batch of my nut brittle. I think I also took the caramel a bit too dark----but some people like it on the dark side.
2. hungry for BLT for dinner but had no L. sandwich not quite the same without, and tomato was tasteless.
3. can't think of anything else. just bummed about my cookies.

Weekend Six ?
