My wife and I are made for each other. I found her in the kitchen tonight, working over...

"Oh. What are we having tonight?" asked I.

"I don't know yet", came her reply. "I've got some garlic done, but I don't know what I'm going to serve with it yet!"

LOL...I knew I had made am impression on our son

when he was in college and decided that the meal plan was not for him.

He said he had an electric wok and a hot plate. I asked if he needed recipes. The answer was "Doesn't every recipe start with 'saute some garlic in a pan'"?

I can so relate...at our house...

the usual question is "Where's dinner going tonight?" to which I usually respond, "I don't know, I'm not there yet."

So funny, dinner is the first thing on my mind when I get up in the morning

and by 10:00 am or earlier I have mise en place.
Then I don't worry all day. When hubby asks, "whats for dinner?" I tell him to check the mise en place. He usually figures it out. One time he said, what does carrots, onions, garlic, and sweet peppers make. I said "a braised roast"
Of course, that led into another conversation.
Ya gotta love it!

Priceless!

Maybe she should look for a part time job in a restaurant here in LA called "Versailles" - a great Cuban restaurant, very affordable, authentic, delicious food

but, boy, oh boy - do they love garlic! I had their special chicken which is served on a pool of liquid garlic with a touch of lemon - I was sweating garlic for a couple of days.... smileys/smile.gif

I've had it! Also try Havana Mania in Redondo Beach - their Ropa Vieja is TDF!

And their Tres Leches Cake is the best I've ever had in a restaurant
