Need a lil gravy help for the neighbor. Has anyone made gravy from a brined turkey?

We're headed there for dinner tonight and the neighbor has asked about making gravy from a roasted brined turkey. Will it be too salty or can it be successfully done? Any suggestions?

A little different result for me. You have to monitor the saltiness of the ...

...gravy closely when you add the turkey drippings.

If I've rinsed the bird sufficiently, then I have fewer problems with excess saltiness. Sometimes the drippings are salty, and I have to add a little at a time to make sure I don't over-salt the gravy. If I use chicken broth from a can for the gravy, I always use Swanson lo-salt.

Take care and you shouldn't have any problems.

Whew! Thanks, Jean, what a relief. Was just about to go to the

grocery to buy turkey parts and get started on a quickie gravy. Thanks for your help.

Okay, thanks Michael. We'll watch out for the saltiness as we proceed

with the gravy. Just grabbed the neighbor's giblets...oh wait, make that his turkey's giblets...lol, and now I'm making a quick stock, sans salt of course, to incorporate into the gravy. It'll be a fun dinner tonight as several neighborhood families come together to celebrate next door.

Reporting back.

The gravy was a tad salty (even for me and I like salt) but everyone enjoyed it. I think rinsing the brined bird would've been helpful but I didn't have control over that part since one neighbor brined the bird, another neighbor roasted it in his oven, and I happened in on the gravy making end. Also, there was ALOT of liquid in the pan (like 4 or more cups worth) when I removed the turkey from the roasting pan....and little to no brown bits, so the gravy didn't turn out as brown and flavorful as I prefer, and as I usually obtain when making roast turkey gravy at home. All in all, a learning experience.

Thanks to all who responded with help.

I don't add any salt when I've brined. What will screw up the gravy even more is when chicken broth

is used to baste it. Wow, I had to toss all the dripping after one roasted chicken..
