Was to have been 4 adults and 4 kids coming over for a beach/swim just after lunch then back here for early supper....but now there are 10 adults and 4 kids.......

The 4 young 'uns are (2, 3, 4, 51/2) soooo....I thought I would make what mine loved when they were all young. Went out and bought some ingredients and now I hear 2 of them a very fussy picky eaters...well, I can help them out but this is my plan....and my need of a recipe.

Caesar salad dip

Broccoli and Bacon Soup

Foccacia

Braaied Chicken Drummies and

Pasta Pie

Crepes with lemon juice/cinnamon sugar (I bought poffertjies instead...for little hands)

Mango Mousse and ice cream

Everything can be made in the A.M. and reheated....

The pasta is a problem...I WAS going to make a tomato sauce sort of, well....dont know what I was going to do as we dont really do pasta pies....... however the picky ones like just plain boiled pasta and real parmasan grated with some plain butter...OK no problem there......

what can I make with

Penne Lisce and Maccheroni.......

How about a non-tomato-based one? Like this Bacon-Cheese Macaroni Pie

But your menu looks fine already. Great, in fact! Can I come too? ;o)

5 cups cooked macaroni or any short pasta (approx 3 cups uncooked)
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons flour
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded favorite cheese
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 cups cooked bacon
1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Boil macaroni until done. Do not overcook it; drain in a strainer.

In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter; add flour and stir until smooth and bubbly. Gradually stir in milk. Continue cooking, stirring, until sauce just begins to bubble and sauce has thickened.

Combine sauce with cheese, macaroni and salt; mix well. Pour into buttered casserole dish. Combine remaining ingredients; sprinkle over the top of the macaroni, pressing into the mixture lightly and bake at 350F for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Makes 4 - 6 servings

I do! I sometimes add tomato chunks and broccoli florets and it makes a

complete meal - it's pretty high-fat, but ah, once in a while...

Could do this BUT I have no beef mince...I do however have minced lamb.....

bought today from N. Zealand. Wonder if it will be good. What say you, friend?

(I may have some beef mince in the depth of my freezer but just dont feel like pulling out all the other 'toe-breaking' frozen parcels tonight) Gee, I am hot and Lazy, I know, I know.

Joanie, you are so mucho cuto! I have never had ground lamb...It is a very forgiving recipe!

Sounds like a fun party! Enjoy!

In fact, I made it tonight... just added a couple of sun-dried tomatoes and omitted

the bacon, and added chives, and it was very good! I didn't want to use the oven, so I cooked the cheese sauce on top of the stove and just added the macaroni and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
