Need another gift suggestion: friends have finally bought a home in CA. They rented

for 15 years and purchased the same model just a few door down from where they've been living. Over the next month, they'll be moving 15 years of Life to the new place.

What can I send as a "house-warming" present that won't add to the "stuff" they're already having to reduce/recyle, move.

What about the outdoor address sign (Assuming you have seen the house; and know if it would work).

or a gift certificate for them to purchase one. They have some lovely ones available, all different price points. Usually $$ are tight when purchasing a new home, and they may not choose to buy a new one themselves.

Or on that theme, maybe a front door wreath?

Or, lastly, completely different theme. If they are doing the moving themselves, what about a goodie box with some fun treats to snack / nibble on for the move.

OR, mail stuff (food or champagne) to have them toast their new home.

Congrats to your friends!

I recently sent a Cuisinart ice cream maker. She once mentioned that she didn't have one

and wanted to get one. I stored the info and luckily remembered when they moved. Have they mentioned anything they want but don't have?

No ideas--just realized that I've been renting for 14 years. smileys/frown.gif Congrats to your friends!

A door bell? This made me think of CA friends who bought a lovely home overlooking

the Pacific. There isn't much you can buy for some people but she had a passion for frogs. So we bought them a frog doorbell. She loved it.

Close 2 the door bell idea is a nice door knocker w/ either last name or last initial engraved on it

I know I would like a big dumpster!

We finally have our home on the market - yahoo - but there is soooo much stuff tucked away that we still need to get rid of.

I close my eyes and imagine flinging the rest of everything into a big dumpster. It makes me smile. Colleen

I second this. My sister-in-law gave us one with our name

and wedding date engraved on it. Now that I think of it, it got left behind on our house in San Diego. smileys/frown.gif

Thanks, Marilyn. Soon as our house sells

I will continue the big purge to FreeCycle, Craigslist, charity and trash. Every time I pull things out, I get a call for a showing so I'm biding my time. There will be plenty to do, soon smileys/wink.gif Hopefully buyers won't ask for immediate occupancy. Colleen
