misplaced-in-az

when I went to bake, found that my oven has died. Do you think it would be all right to cover the bowl, put it in the fridge until tomorrow, without any adverse effects, when I can take it over to my DS's and bake them???? TIA

for your help.

I need to stop hitting the enter key...

instead of tab.
I hold cookie dough all the time in the fridge for a day. I have also rolled it into logs and forzen for later slicing and baking.

Thanks judy. Appreciate the quick response. I was a little worried

because there is baking powder in the mix and I did not know if this would effect the texture of the cookie by putting it in the fridge overnight.

I do it with choc. chip cookies that have baking powder... sometimes bake a few at a time

over a week's time... the last are always as good as the first. Saves time and stress during the holidays.

Mis, is it an electric oven? The heating element may have just blown...

Get down and look at eye level along the entire length of the element searching for a small bubble, like a blob of burnt sugar. If found, that is the burn-out point: the break in the flow of electricity (or "open circuit") and the reason why the element can't heat up.

All you have to do is unscrew the element from the inside back wall and take it to an appliance parts store. That way, they can see exactly what you need to replace it. Or, if you have the original appliance book, it should list the part number.

My GE element cost about $30 and I was back up and running in the time it took to screw the new one back in.

Hope it's that easy for you.

Marilyn, actually the apt. complex bought a new stove for me, but it

is a piece of "junk". I think they got a real lemon, as the stove elements over heat and I almost lost my pot roast the other day. Too long a story to give many more details, but as far as I know they are ordering a new unit. In the meantime I am without stove top and oven. I can haul my cookie dough to my DS's apt. and bake the cookies there, today. Thanks for trying to help though. Oh, yes, it is electric.
