Need help with crockpot cheese fondue, please.

I have just started yet another education class. The lecturer has divided us into groups and ordained that each group should provide dinner once during the course. My group is responsible for next week, and we decided (don't ask me why) to provide crockpot fondue, and I am bringing it. We will also have salad and dessert.

I have looked up recipes, and there are several easy ones which depend on canned cheese soup. I have tasted canned cheese soup. My other problem is that I have to rush from work to get to the course on time, so there is no prep time.

So... can anyone suggest a good recipe? I need to feed 25 people (I have a large 6qt crockpot). Also, will the recipe heat up in the pot in an hour, or should I start it off in the microwave at school, and finish it in the pot at the class?

I am going to hack up several baguettes to serve with it, and probably get small cocktail sausages and broccoli as well.

I was thinking of just ladling the fondue into individual bowls, to prevent a crush around the bowl, and allow them to eat with spoons or forks.

Any suggestions very gratefully received.

Hi Lana,

You will need to heat the fondue up in the microwave, or bring it hot with you. I have done both, just make sure your crockpot will fit in the microwave. Ladling is a good idea, you would be surprised at how many people double dip. Yuck!
I did a search on Zaar and found a couple good sounding recipes. The cheese and champagne one sounds good, and there is a pizza fondue that might go over well too. The cheese and champagne one serves red potatoes with it, and I thought that was kind of unique. Here is the link and let us know what you decide to do.

Thank you so much, Dawn, those recipes look much better

than the ones I found. I will do the Creamy Cheddar fondue : I don't know anyone's likes or dislikes, and this seemed a good bet. I'll let you know how it went.
