Need tips on how to remove the label adhesive on a new tart pan.

I am at wits end! I have a new Roshco 11" tart pan. It had a paper label covering it when I bought it. The label was secured to the pan with a sticky, rubbery substance that has defied all attempts to remove it!

I'm ready to throw it over the fence.

Hot water. Soap. Rubbing alcohol. Nail polish remover. Brute force. Nothing has touched it.

"Roshco" has no website, so I have no way to contact them.

Help?

Michael

Michael, I use a product called "Goo Gone," that works really well...>

Removes stickers, grease, gum, tar, crayon, tape, adhesives.

Hope it helps! How frustrating.

I did try cooking oil and baby oil and mineral oil. Finally got it off with mineral spirits. Had..

...to go to the industrial chemicals in order to make a tart pan useable.

Thanks for the tips.

I'll get some "Goo Gone" next time I'm shopping. Sounds like good stuff to have on hand.

Thanks again,

Michael

Nail Polish remover didn't work!! Oh My!! The adhesive must have really been on there! Now, big ??

What are you going to make with that lovely tart pan!

Barb

I love this stuff. I really works. Also, although you may not have it around...

Rubber Cement Thinner will take off the most stubborn labels. However, most folks don't have it around. It's found at arts & crafts stores near the glues. You literally just dump it over the label. Don't worry about damage...it will all evaporate.

It's a great way to reuse those nice large rice jars or peanut jars.

lighter fluid works great on adhesives too. happy to see you got it cleaned. smileys/smile.gif

Please be careful about using nail polish remover. I ruined a large piece of furniture

trying to remove a 2" label.

I removed the label and a 3" circle of stain and finish. The piece has never looked the same since.

my first "grown up" job in NYC .... my phone needed cleaning so I used nail polish

remover, it disovled the dial and part of phone. it had to be replaced. my boss just looked at that phone with an amazed expression and asked: "how did you do that baby doll?"

thank goodness he had a sense of humor!

Another vote for Goo Gone. I've used it to remove labels from baking sheets. I believe

it's pure orange oil, so a product with orange oil might work as well.

My mother was so fond of Goo Gone that she put it in our Christmas stockings (which she kept doing well into our forties).

I'm sure it wasn't this long ago, but you should watch the TV show Mad Men for a flash back

to the '50's in the advertising business. An interesting look at sexism and women's life back then, along with a lot of other things.
