New Trader Joe's frozen food: The Steak and Ale Pies.

I have pretty much given up on most of the TJ frozen entrees, but this just appeared and looked beautiful (I know) so I tossed it into cart. It is so near homemade I couldn't believe it. Total homerun TJs!

Of course, I have cursed it to hell with this post and it will disappear in November.

Still in mourning for the German Bakery Seeded Dinner Rolls. RIP.

 
I have given up, as well Richard. They don't have those delicious chipotle fries anymore

but on your recommendation, I have put the steak and ale pie on my list. Thanks.

 
Gotta remember that they get stuff when they can get it at a good price. . .

and once that good price is gone for them, so is the item for us!

 
I still mourn the beef stew and continue to email them. Nobody else makes it so what gives?

This was my go to I'm home late comfort food. The only thing I can find in the store is Dinty Moore and it's disgusting.

 
True. Gotta remember, it's not a regular store. They buy at good prices so they can pass that on

to us. Once they can't get a good price, it's gone.

 
They have arrangements with certain manufacturers where they make Trader Joe's stuff only during

slow times, at a reduced price. If the manufacturer gets busy with more lucrative orders the TJ's products get postponed indefinitely.

It can be a real bummer. About 20 years ago they had wonderful crystal wine glasses, intermittently, for very cheap. I bought a lot while I could. We broke the last one a few year ago.

 
Pie is OK but worth 690 calories? I don't think so. Another not worth the

calories IMHO are the mini pumpkin pies. I do stock up on their cranberry sauce though when It's in season. Also handy to have the mini mushroom turnovers in the freezer.

 
I tried this product...it was good for the first few bites, but then I picked up something not quite

right....a funny taste I could not put my finger on. Plus it is very ugly looking! The crust was the best thing about it, but so rich,
