NFC: Unhappy news

About a month ago, my mother was diagnosed with some carcinoid tumors in her intestine. She also had two tumors on her pancreas that were also thought to be carcinoid. Well, we found out that they are pancreatic cancer and non-operable (they're wrapped around an artery leading to the liver). So she's starting chemo and radiation, but there's no cure; pancreatic cancer is very aggressive. The docs say she has about six to eight months.

I wanted you all to know because my mother loves good food and she taught me everything I know about cooking. And she really enjoys all the recipes I get from this site. She doesn't really use the Internet, but gets a kick out of the fact that we have such a strong community here.

BTW, I cooked Meryl's Thai Coconut Chicken Soup for my parents last night and they really liked it. Also, I did the roasted broccoli for them a few weeks ago and they really liked that, too. Mom said she never would have thought to roast broccoli.

So thanks for all your recipes and keep 'em coming--we'll enjoy them to the hilt while we can.

Dear Amanda I'm so sorry for your news, please let us know her favorites and we'll try to supply as

many recipes as possible.

Please enjoy every moment with your mother, I pray that you gain the strength to shine on for your mother.

You are most assuredly a blessing to her.

My thoughts and prayers for you and hopefully many recipes too.

Sincerely, Dianne

Your poor mom must be frightened to say the least. I'll keep you all in my prayers while you're

in this awful situation.

Amanda, so sorry to hear this. Enjoy the time you have with her and

make lots of happy memories! She's lucky to have such a kind daughter so close to her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family too.

So sad... you are lucky to have the time left with her... we don't always have such luxury ((hugs))
