Can you tell me if you really like your French door refrigerator---I'm shopping for the best brand. Don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just good storage space and good freezer drawers. Thanks!

I like my Fischer paktel

At the time it was the only one, besides the kenmore (and not the amana who made the kenmore) that had roller drawer guides in the freezer. I wanted that because my mil's didn't which made the drawers when full hard to roll in and out.

I love this fridge, but I'm not an overall fan of the drawer freezer as I'm not find of digging in it.

FYI my friends had nothing but trouble with her side by side Frigidaire, but my SIL loves her French door version. I hate the funky ice/water paddles you press the glass onto. They both stained and both are difficult to use.

Seems that the ice in the door clogs if you don't use it for a few days. Maybe...

because the door gets opened and closed frequently and that causes either a blast of humid air or a slight melting.

At least the ice bin in the freezer isn't subjected to constant temperature changes that cause the ice to clump together.

I've looked at those and did not like them. I like the nice big single door on my

Sub Zero, and like the big Amana which my friend has. It is so easy to get things in and out of and you do not have both those doors swinging out. I prefer the built-in type rather than the fridge sticking out into the room. Plus, I love the big freezer on the bottom. Mine has a slide out upper level, which is great for your loaves of bread, pancakes, muffins, butter, the things you might grab for everyday use., The automatic ice maker drops ice into a tray on the top level also. The bottom layer is much deeper, and I use that for our frozen lemon ice cubes, packages of shrimp, scallops, our dogs bagged wet food and more.
I definitely do not like the water and ice on the outside. I've noticed at friends, they get stained, if white is involved in the material, it changes color over time, and basically just look dirty. Note, that we remodeled 16 years ago so it has been awhile since I have seen the new fridges. This is my observations from friends and neighbors units.

Our kids grew to hate their French door fridge. And I dislike side by sides. I loved

mine with the freezer on the bottom from long ago.

We switched to French Doors 2 years ago and love it

We were able to go from a 28 Cubic Feet to 33 (I'm guessing French Doors have something to do with it.

The freezer portion has 2 shelves above the rest of the storage and this is my favorite feature.
