Thank you again for all of your prayers and good thoughts. While Andrew is still in a coma, all involved feel he is doing well. Wigs, I passed along your website information. Thanks!
Yesterday (Saturday, April 5) Andrew was transferred from Shands Neuro ICU to the south Orlando ICU unit of Select Medical Hospital. Select is a small hospital which focuses on transitioning such patients to the next level. For Andrew that will be “weaning” him from breathing support and awakening from the coma. After only a few hours at Select we actually observed more movement upon voice command in his hands, fingers, feet, and legs. That in itself is giving us more hope that soon he will waken! The next goal will be transitioning to a rehab focused facility when he wakens and is meeting the criteria for that. Baby steps! Last week he had a second bout with pneumonia after they placed his feeding tube. Once again antibiotics are taking care of that.
We continue to pray for his recovery and truly appreciate everyone’s support and help in this. Thanks!
