for my couisin wedding its in Camarillo, will be staying in Oakview. Am looking forward to going to the Farmers Market in L.A. Need some R&R after being in and out of the hosiptal for the last 2 mths. I lived there from 67 - 86. I bet it has changed alot any ideas of new things to do ?

Thanks

Carol, first of all be warned that the drive from Camarillo to LA will be much more crowded.

there has been so much development along the 101.

The biggest addition to LA is the Ghetty Museum in the Sepulveda pass. It's a beautiful setting with a spectacular view. The museum is free but you need a parking reservation in advance.

The old Farmer's Market on 3rd and Fairfax is mostly food booths now--a fun place to eat but not a place to buy produce. There is a new shopping center next to it called "The Grove" which is nice. The largest actual farmers' markets are in Santa Monica on Wednesday and Saturday and in Hollywood on Sunday.

Have a great time--sounds like you've earned it.

Getty is free, but parking is about $10 - well worth it. Eat at the restaurant there!

The Farmers Market is always fun to just walk around in - good food booths, good donut stand and a place that makes there own ice cream.

Joe is right - freeways seem to ALWAYS be crowded.

Yes, I don't get there often, but it's well known and close to the pier. another attraction

Lots of restaurants claim to shop there.

Yes, the restaurant, which is close to the entrance. Not the cafe, which is downstairs--not good.

By the way, the Ghetty Villa in Malibu is open again after many years of renovation. Still haven't made it by.

Same deal--free museum but you have to arrange parking way in advance. I don't know the charge.

Please check: when I was there in 2004, you needed reservations to get into the parking garage.

They only let so many people into the museum each hour.

In LA for a class, I went to see their calligraphy pieces and I'll give ya'll ONE GUESS which ENTIRE COLLECTION was closed off to the public in preparation for a new installation...to open the week AFTER I left?

I ate at the restaurant that looks over the hills. Wonderful view, very good meal.

You were living there when we visited around '75. We were looking at houses because DH was thinking

of accepting a position with a company in (I think) Westlake. I remember how beautiful Camarillo was and the houses were perched on hills, sometimes with just decks hanging over. DH has an aversion to heights and that about did him in. I can't imagine how much it must have changed over the years. I remember it being fairly uncrowded and most of the houses were new. We moved to Atlanta instead.

Enjoy your vacation! I hope you're feeling much better.
