I've only been to NYC 3 times and mostly ran around wearing myself out and not seeing much.

I want to see the John Singer Sargent show at the Met.

I want to see fall leaves and take a tour of Central Park

I think I should take a bus tour of the city--or maybe a walking tour of a smaller area.

I'd kinda like to walk across...is it Brooklyn Bridge?

I had planned all this last year for the holiday season and all hell broke out in my life. So this is my last chance to use this free airfare.

All suggestions are welcome!

Touch base with erin / Sandra / elaine / Richard. You have my email. I can help get you there, but

not an expert on your agenda. Would LOVE to catch up with you during your visit!

best,
Barb

Do the High Line. Eat in Queens--the ethnic restaurant capital now. Go to Mario Batali's

Eatily (sp).

If we are there for more than one day I like to spend a day walking Chinatown, Little Italy

and the lower East Side (The Tenement Museum is a wonderful experience). Try to get down to the 911 Memorial Museum, too. From a pickle right out of the barrel to fine dining it's a foodie paradise!

Our leaves are just beginning to have a bit of color and NYC is much warmer than we are. 94° last week and frost warnings for tonight!

I'm with Cyn on this. I went to the Art Institute for a year,

and never tired of walking around Chinatown and Little Italy.

A food geek friend of mine was there last weekend. Here's his recap:

Ed is a food geek and he was in NYC last week. Here's his recap. He loved a bagel joint called Sadelles. And this, "Foodie highlights. The chicken and waffles at Red Rooster. The pastrami sandwich at Pastrami Queen. I am not sure who recommended it, but it was better than Katz's. Thank you. Sadelle's was just perfect. But the best thing that I had was a tamarind helado from the street vendor in El Barrio. Hadn't had one in 30+ years. Same wonderful texture. Heavenly!"

Best "egg-on-a Kaiser" - 47th Gourmet Market (47th btwn 6th & 7th)

Our breakfast must-have when we visit. Mid-town, just off Time Square/TKTS (and an easy-off-easy-on subway stop). Open 24 hours - they have everything!!! - including wonderful entrees and prepared cold foods. A few tables for dine in.

One of my favorite NYC memories was the time I got up early on a beautiful June morning, grabbed my egg-on-a-Kaiser and a tub of fresh cut fruit at 47th Gourmet and headed over to enjoy breakfast as part of the audience outside the Today show. Colleen

Hi, just happened to come in here after aaages!

Come to NYC!

Even if you miss the Sargent, there is other wonderful stuff on at the Met and at Lincoln Center as well, if you are so inclined -

Some trees in the park are already starting to turn, and even if you don't get the full glory of color, you will have great weather and beautiful flowers

Tours are a great idea, I have several friends that are your guides, both on land and on water, around the island, and can hook you up with some great sightseeing

All other suggestions are also great - except if you're only here for a few days, I wouldn't bother with the outer boroughs, i.e. Brooklyn and Queens, lots and lots to do just in Manhattan -

Let me know if you want more info, I'll check back in later!

Hi San! So nice to see you. YES! I will take any/all suggestions, but I'd

like to focus on seeing the "city" rather than taking a class. If I were there longer, I would consider that idea. right now it's looking like I will fly in on a Friday (no direct flights) and then fly out on Monday. So I have to plan on any site that is only available on Friday afternoons.
