Our youngters gave us an ipod for Christmas and I have just now started to try to put music on it from the computor. I use a USB (UBS) port and plugged it in and then tried to see where/what on the itunes program. I did not have time to really get into everything and needed to go out BUT could not see the icon on the bar at the bottom that one clicks on to bring up the window where you click to release the USB...and as the ipod was flashing the NO Disconnection ring I could not pull out the plug. So I left it and while out there was a power cut. When I got back I just pulled the plug of the ipod and now the poor little screen seems quite dead...is this possible. I have also now plugged in my camera and when it came time to unplug again I could not find that little arrow thingy to click through for the release. But my camera is still working...

Do you think I have fried the ipod? Is there some way of resurecting the poor wee gadget?

TIA for help on this

I had the same thing happen - mine's fine - so I don't think yours is fried (more)

Actually - it's happened more than once that the iPOD said don't disconnect but iTunes was done updating. So - I disconnected it. But only once did I have a hard time getting the iPod to turn on after that. I honestly can't remember what I did to fix it. I might have plugged it back in to the USB and it kicked in. You might want to try the apple iPod support site and see if there is info.

thanks for the answers but HOW? do I reset it...the sprogs rushed into doing all....

the set up, they were so excited to give it to me and of course I have Nu'ting to tell me anything about it as they must have done something with the boxes/booklet (Did it come with a booklet, I wonder.)
I turned the little switch off at the top for the night, nothing came up this am when I tried it again.
Thanks for the suggestion about the apple support, see, I never even thought about that, I'll follow through with that.

Maybe I should go to the shop and check out the boxes of other new ones and see if there is/was one of the "shortcut help to problems" paper inside.

'Kay the biggest problems that I can see.....

is that NO light comes up on the screen of the iPod, no matter what I do!
And I haven't a clue where they put the CD to install iTunes in the first place...I'll have to wait till I get holed of them before proceeding.
Thanks so much for the heads up to the support on the web...

Jealousy 'll get you know-where!....Yippe, thanks for the heads up to the support...I got the little

guy turned on and now I will start again to try to download music. Truly, many thanks guys for the NFR help.
