Nfr: huge fire near our cabin. Artwork and photos are gathered. Ready to evacuate if needed.j

good luck to you and the animals

We had to make evacuation plans once, a couple years ago. We didn't have to leave and hopefully you won't either. It is good to be prepared.

Ang, I thought of you this morning when I heard this on the news. I hope it goes

well for you, the critters and all the other folks. Living here in the armpit of the nation, I have never experienced this kind of fire.

Keeping you all in my thoughts!

Positive thoughts for everyone. We had Alaskan fire fighters here in 1998

when the dought and fires took over our part of the state. In fact, we had help from fire fighters from several mountain states. Our fire fighters weren't used to such big flames since most of the FL pine trees are fire resistant. They can take a lightening strike and deal with it. However, there are so many non-indigenous invasive plants growing up around FL trees that aren't fire resistant that when they catch fire, they flame and incinerate. And the heat from that is what catches the FL trees on fire.

The link that Angie provided has updated news about owners being

able to return but I just don't know if it includes where their cabin in. I hope all is well.

Mary, God bless your CDN tanker planes. Flying in circles over us scooping water then dumping

I think we have 4 of your's working this fire. It rained a tiny bit this am but we need lots more. Picture is 3 batches cookie bars I made for firefighters. We drove towards one of the hotspots and found a forestry truck full of guys. They dug right in with smiles. We're headed back to anchorage today. We should be out of danger even though fire still rages. Started with campfire not extinguished
