NFR - Is it the general style now for fitted sheets to have elastic completely around the sheet

instead of just the corners? I bought one for my king size bed, and had to return it - It was so hard to get around the bed, let alone being able to tell which was the long side and which was the shorter side.

I was checking on another brand at Amazon and asked a question about it - two customers answered me, and said it also had the elastic all around it. Apparently, they had no problems with it. Is it just me? I really hate them, although the one brand I tried could have been a bad design, and maybe others are better. Do any companies even make the old fashioned type anymore? Do you have any brands to recommend?

I think they are all that way now...

Another complaint I have is that they are made to fit 15" high mattresses so they get baggy on mine, which is only 9" high.

Judy, you are right, because mattresses are thicker now than in years...

...past. The pillow tops, euro pillow tops, gel tops, and extra plush all have multiple layers of comfort materials that mattresses 10 years ago didn't have. The mid-range and high-end mattresses are all like this. It's hard to find one in those ranges that is a simple flat top.

Good news is that the buying trend in mattresses, at least in American cities, is trending heavily toward mid-range and low-end purchases. People are abandoning the high-end market, so that means mattresses will most likely get thinner over the next few years, and sheet makers will follow the money.

Mine all have elastic. I don't have much of a problem with them, they go on easily.

If I start putting it on wrong, I just give it a quarter turn, does not take long. Of course, my hubby helps with sheet changes on the bed. Makes it very easy.

Mine are all elastic too

guess how much fun I had yesterday putting on the mattress cover, pad, then sheets -- while laying on the bed (I was able to sit in the wheelchair for the last corner though). I feel your pain. They should make that an athletic event, I had to shower after, lol

(Look for the seamed corners to help guide you.)

NFRC - I hate my high-end mattress

It has a built in memory pillow top. It permanently dented after the first year, five yrs in it's like the 7th circle of hell and rotating it only helped the first time. I'll never buy one of these again.

Mine have the elastic all the way around, but it is not overly tight like some others.

Also, getting monochromatic stripes can help making the bed less frustrating, as it is easier to tell which way is "up"...

I hate also that the mattress pads all seem to be a similar design. It is extremely difficult to put those on.

Body impressions on memory foam is a big downside for the...

...mattress industry right now.

Sometimes it only takes a couple of weeks to leave a pretty significant impression.

Yeah, wish I'd known that. I was 115 lbs at the time and it still did it.

The thing is I'd used a separate memory foam topper with my old mattress before upgrading to a new one. It never did that so I had no idea it could happen. After spending 3K, very unhappy camper.
