NFR-My sister is being transfered to Clearwater, FL. She isn't happy about it so what can I tell

She should also be researching Tampa & St. Pete--it's a tri-city area.

She might find things she likes tagged to those cities. The Gulf side has gentle and warmer water than the rougher east coast. Does she like to golf? Florida has more golf courses than any state. Orlando is 1.5 hours away.

Ybor City in Tampa: Cuban community and latino foods.

North to Tarpon Springs: Greek community, fishing, formerly sponge diving

South: Sarasota has the Ringling Brothers Museum
South: Bradenton has the Pittsburgh Pirates training camp.
More South: Sanibel and Captiva Islands for shelling.

Clearwater is a busy, pretty city... The main part of Clearwater stretches from US 19 to the Gulf of

Mexico. It seems a little younger than St. Petersburg or Tampa. The shopping variety seems to be a little better there too.

What is she unhappy about?

I have dear friends who used to live in Clearwater, now live 1 county north of there.
So between us we could answer a lot of questions, perhaps.

Let me know if I can help by giving you my info for her.

She is unhappy because she moved 4 years ago to Annapolis to take this job. She like Annapolis, has

a house there and has made some friends. Her son lives in Annapolis.

I think the main thing is that her boss walked in today, said they were closing her office and she had until Nov to move to FL if she wants to keep her job. Makes it hard to get excited about a move.

Clearwater is a really lovely place.

I live near Orlando, and think it is the ugliest place I have ever lived, but Clearwater is really pretty. It is really hot and humid, which I don't enjoy, but you can grow all sorts of tropical fruit which we have trouble with even in Orlando. Think mango trees, papayas, avocados - I would find this a real consolation!
