NFR Please help I have a Robin ( bird) that likes my window

Carol, my friends in Albq hang strings of old CDs from their window frames. The CDs

---strung together with fishing line--twist and reflect light and scare off the birds from hitting their large plate windows. Maybe you only need to do this until the bird learns its lesson?

We hung foil pie pans in the Saskatoon tree. It did scare the birds when the sun caught

the pans at the right angle. It's a bit blinding for the us as well, when they start swinging.

Eventually they learned that the pans won't chase them though. Saskatoons are pretty irresistable.

What is it that the robin won't stop doing?

I think birds only do this during mating season, that is fly into windows...

my understanding is that they think they are pursuing a rival!

I had a bird once that went after the bird he saw in my drivers side mirror--for a number of days--what a mess of bird droppings he left on the side of my car!!!

Aaaah. So is he courting his reflection? Would there be such a reflection if you

dropped a blind inside?

We have so many bird run-ins against our windows, I suspect we have a number of brain-damaged characters out there now. I've plastered our windows with stick-on birds, but they are not very effective.

I can tell you that this certainly is the squirrel mating season. Yikes! A little discretion would be in order, you little tikes. (Guess I should mind my own business)

Carol, Randi told me to tell you the same thing. She can't post because of computer problems, but

she emailed me to say he was fighting a rival. If you cover the window with something non-reflective, the behavior should stop.

You think! He'll be back. We've had a male cardinal doing this for 6 months...

even our cats are bored.
