BIG virus coming

Tope checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

I checked snopes.com, this morning, and it is for real!!

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next several weeks. Do not open any

message with an attac! hment e ntitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it

to you.

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole

hard disc (C drive) of your computer. This virus will be received from

someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is

the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It

is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus

and open it. If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent

to you by a friend, do not open it.! This includes all cards, too. Shut

down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by

Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was

discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this

kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard

Disc, where your vital information is kept.

COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT T! O YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER: IF YOU

SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US.

A real threat but somewhat exaggerated

This is a real threat but it has been around for years. According to Snopes.com:
Although the Postcard virus is real, it isn't a "BIG VIRUS COMING" (it's already been around in multiple forms for a long time now), it will not "burn the whole hard disc" of your computer, CNN didn't classify it as the "worst virus" ever, and it doesn't arrive in messages bearing a subject line of 'Invitation.'

You can check it out at the attached link.

I checked with snopes.com and at the bottom of the link it says this is not for real... BUT...

....there are similar viruses out there that behave like someone you know sending you an e-card.

Their advice is to ignore it completely and delete, or, if you think a friend is REALLY sending you an innocent e-card, go directly to the e-card company's website (don't click the link in the email) and enter your retrieval code into the space on their website that allows you to get your card. If it's real, you'll get your card. If it's fake, you won't get a card. That simple.

Thanks for the heads-up Joe.

I've spent the last 1/2 hour of my already frustrating day undoing damage to my new computer

done by a teenager that is bored and finds my new laptop better than my old one and by my husband that doesn't know how to use it. My first thought was they had been somewhere or opened something because of so many things that were not working. They turned off the wireless button without knowing it. Reset the bluetooth mouse and I am not sure whatelse because even thought i have it up and running it's slow and this is a brand new XPS M1330 LOADED so it's fast and powerful.

I gave the old laptop to the two of them but DH claims it's his but they've used it so much they have 'wiggled' the power connection in the back so it doesn't make connection good. So I need to fix that and then my next quarter's discount goes towards getting DD her own laptop but a low end. The only thing I am wonderin now is when we will put the new little laptop on the market.
