NFR: Since when....

is Amazon refusing to sell to a very good customer who is NOT a member of Prime? I buy a certain product all the time, yesterday was told I cannot buy it because I am not a Prime member! I am so ticked.

I knew there are better prices for prime customers and that they won't sell some movies and games

unless you have prime membership but didn't realize it was that extensive. DH swears they have slowed down shipping on items he buys. We don't have prime. Seems a bit of a risky way to do business, but then Costco has succeeded doing so.

You might want to check out Jet.com. It seems to me they have some good prices on food items I was checking out with free shipping over $35.

I called Customer Service this morning, they are in India and the two people who tried to help me I

could not understand. I ended up buying the same product but in a different form, it had better ratings and I got free shipping on the whole deal. The second customer service guy put me on hold and I ended up hanging up. They never called back either. Amazon better be careful.

I'm a Prime member, but I have become increasingly

frustrated with Amazon's use of FedEx-Post shipping where FedEx hands it off to your local USPS who in turn delivers it. I live in a small community and work in another town. Often, my post office will leave a note to come pick up the package instead of just leaving it. They are only open limited hours when I cannot get there during the week and are only open from 8:00-10:00 AM on Saturdays. I am a Prime member primarily to get the free two day shipping. With the move to the FedEx-Post, I rarely receive my packages in the two day window. Of course, it counts as two-day with Amazon, because the post office counts leaving the note as a delivery attempt.

It's making me seriously reconsider the value of my Prime membership.

I bundle my purchases. I keep a list of what I want or am going to need and when

I get enough for the free shipping, I order. Trouble is, some items are not eligible for it. When my charge invoice comes in it is a nightmare to figure out sometimes, because now instead of all on one purchase they split them up. Twice I have had to call customer service and have them decipher for me. The two-day shipping is not important to me either because I am usually not in a hurry for anything.
I am annoyed with the 'in your face' shenanigans to try to coerce me into Prime.

I sent them a message today telling them if they are trying to be like Cosco with a yearly membership, just do it for heaven's sake and stop making my life more complicated with all this misery they are giving me. I love Amazon and been so happy with them until now.

UPS left a notice yesterday that they couldn't deliver a package because it has to be signed for by

someone over 21 years of age.

I didn't remember ordering anything that would come by UPS. Their note said they would try two more times but then they would have to return the package.

But what time? Morning? Afternoon? Evening? By the light of a full moon? Absolutely no information--just that someone must be there to accept the package.

Had I inadvertently ordered radioactive plutonium??

Apparently, this delivery is so special that a person is supposed to stay at home ALL DAY sitting on their hands waiting for the little brown truck to show up.

I called and left a message on their 1-800 number to deliver it to 60-year old neighbor who would sign for it.

Got to work this morning and find out IT'S A BOOK...FROM AMAZON!!!!!!!!!!

A cook book that I bought simply because I loved the title:
"How to Bake Pi: An Edible Exploration of the Mathematics of Mathematics"

Apparently, UPS and/or Amazon think math is a dirty subject suitable only for adults. I wonder if it's going to come in a plain brown package?

Only you, Marilyn...

would order that book, so apparently Amazon was so taken aback that they gave it SPECIAL treatment!

Will you need more Pi dishes for experimenting???

I suspect it is the company "fulfilling" the order on Amazon that uses UPS. Maybe check

your profile and preferences on Amazon for whether it requires a signature. NO doubt, that is a real irritation.

I don't do a lot with Amazon, but whenever I end up with overseas tech support or customer service..

...I politely and respectfully ask to be transferred to "stateside tech support/customer service".

I was given this advice by two different entities. One was a massive phone company and the other was a large shipping/transportation company. Most often they will send you to someone doing tech support/customer service here in the US.

Gah, that would chap my hide! This last free shipping hike made me wash my hands of them.

Also, the fact that they want to use drones for delivery and treat their warehouse workers beyond horrible has me just saying no to them completely these days.

Since Amazon has a public wall on Facebook I was able to view it. Nothing but complaints against

Amazon and totally canned responses from Amazon.

Today a friend sent me a link to a pin on Pinterest that she thought I'd like. I clicked on it and Pinterest would not let me view all the recipes because I am not on Facebook! The world as we know it is disappearing.

You don't have to have a Facebook account to view Pinterest, you can make a log in

directly with them on the Pinterest site.

I avoided doing so for a very long time (I don't Faceook, either), but I have a job that requires me to come up with a lot of my own materials, and I get a lot of ideas from Pinterest, so finally broke down and created a login directly with that site.

You can sign in to pinterest separately. You just have to look closely at the bottom

for a sign in.

I get GREAT service from Amazon. Sorry others don't.

Why didn't I think of that!! I logged on directly to Pinterest and Facebook was not in my face...

thanks for the reminder!
