NFR sort of. I just wanted to mention a product that is on the market, that I have just discovered.

It is called Airborne. I have been taking care of sick kids for the last week, really sick kids, with the flu. They have been coughing, sneezing, and oozing all over me...lol. Well, you know what I mean. I have been taking this product because my step-daughter's co-workers swore by it. I have not gotten sick, well a little bit, but nothing like what the kids have had. They have a website that you can look at to see what is in it. I started taking it as soon as I started feeling a little under the weather, and it just never took hold. I am not affiliated with the company that makes this, I am just very impressed with it.http://www.airbornehealth.com/

Dawn, this is sooooo funny, cause I just returned home from>>

Walgreen's, where I bought 3 bottles of the stuff. They make their own brand, and call it Wal-borne.... it's on sale, this week, until Sunday, for $3.99. I've been using this for a couple of years now, especially before getting on an airplane (doing the every 3 hours regimen) or going to the movies, during cold/flu season. It's really great!!! Has an interesting history, also.... it was discovered by a schoolteacher, who always became ill, while teaching, and she composed her own concoction of herbs, etc, and proceeded to make a jillion dollars with her discovery!!!!!!! Good on her!!
Hope you stay germ free & that the kids are on their way!!

Thanks Moyn, I will get some of the Walgreen's brand...

that is like 3 dollars less than the Name Brand that I bought. All the kids are on the mend, but I swear I hear "MOM, Dawnie" being called in my sleep now, poor little kidlets. I cannot stand to see the usually energetic little ones, sitting/laying on the couch all lethargic, acckkkkkkk, hate it. Now hubby is coming down with it, so I started him on this too. He pooh poohs it, but is taking it. I just made him some chicken broth with cilantro, rice vinegar, garlic chile paste, coconut milk and a little leftover turkey. I had some too, very tasty for being so easy. Thanks for the heads up on the generic. I think I am going to make some of your chicken soup for dinner, that is a favorite around here.

Another one is Zicam....

We discovered this zinc nasal spray back 6 or 7 years ago when it came out. My husband has asthma and always gets EVERYTHING that goes around. Since he's been using this, he really hasn't had any bad colds, flu or such (knock on wood). The sinsus version doesn't really seem to do much but the original nasal spray does and the tablets they came out with this year also seem to sort of reinforce it.

Thanks for the heads up Moyn. I saw this woman a few years ago...

on Oprah and my husband has been using it ever since. His commute to work is by plane (sometimes that commute can be awful...Saipan for one)and he just never gets sick since he started using it. I didn't realize Walgreen's had their own brand. That helps with one expense.

I swear by this stuff...love it love it love it - tho Walgreen's brand doesn't taste as good.

I use it as well...I took some moments before seeing this in fact. Great for staving off a cold if you take this in the early stages.

I've been surrounded by sick folks at work since before the holidays and this has kept it at bay every time I start to feel like I'm getting it too.

I will sing its praises too.I work for a orthodontist and get all

sorts of things coming at me, between patients and coworkers. I take it whenever I feel run down, or know I am getting exposed. I have been able to battle off bugs. I did get bronchitis that I couldn't control, but I recovered in record time. I agree it's great!

So glad to hear about this!

I'm house sitting at my DD's house this week and my granddaughter (16 mos) has been sick. I leave for Portland on March 1 and have been thinking about a travel tip I read awhile back about putting a dab of antibiotic ointment inside your nostrils before boarding the plane for travel.

Last time I flew I got so sick when I returned home. Ugh!

I'm going to try BOTH this product and using the antibiotic ointment!

Any thing to keep those nasties away!

Thanks, Dawn!!!!

Gayle, Just heed the instructions for beforehand....>>>

Take one 3 hours before the flight departure, and then another, and then take 1 every 3 hours thereafter, for about 1/2 day. Never heard about the antibiotic ointment... You mean neosporin, or the likes??? It is specifically made for topical uses, wonder if there could be harm inside your nostrils????
Re: Missy's endorsement of Zicam... there was a bit of a scare, about a year ago, cannot remember what exactly it was, from side effects of this product?? Anybody??????

Hi Dawn, another good one is Emergenc-C which does not have artificial sweeteners...

- I've been trying to avoid them lately to see if they are a headache trigger, and I think it helps. but they all taste great and really help with the cold/flu season (and great for the day after a night of excess, if you know what I mean!LOL) Right now I'm using the cranberry flavor which is really nice!

Thanks everyone, I am a little under the weather, but nothing like everyone else that has gotten it.

I do not have a fever or chills like my poor hubby. I will keep taking this everytime the kids get sick! Thanks everyone!

Moyn....

Yes, such as Neosporin. I can't imagine what the harm would be to use a q-tip and dab a dot inside your nostrils. I read this tip on MSN on a best travel tips. I'll see if I can find the URL and post it. Had some AWESOME tips!
I'm flying into Portland on March 1 and back on March 8 so plan to try all I can to combat getting that stale air sicknesses one tends to get when they fly.

Thanks for the tip, Moyn!

Hi Moyn. Zicam is Zinc in an aerosolized form....

The studies I have seen have shown that it can lessen the length of the flu a couple days, and can make the symptoms less severe. I don't recall reading about side effects.

KC, I believe it was last winter, when there was lots of publicity>>

about side effects for certain people. Hmmmmm, just cannot remember what or who!

Trader Joe's has the best price here...

for Airborne, and the most flavors. We like the Lemon Lime best so far...and we've gone through a lot (I'm an elementary school secretary); and Zicam will help you survive the worst cold even when doing an open-kitchen catering job! I managed to work as the entertainment for 4 hours with the help of Zicam!
