of course, there's no way to contact the Google people - I can only hit the Spam button - big deal.

If you use your Gmail account for websites/forums that want your email

.that is why you are getting all the promotions, updates, etc. I use Gmail for just that purpose, but keep my private email through my ISP for family and friends ONLY, and I do not get spam in that box.

I use gmail for my main account. I don't "publish" my email

but sign up for specific sites. I find gmail's filter must work because I get no spam. Just another opinion.

Good point Charley. So what it boils down to is ......

a person should have one account for giving out to websites when they request an email when registering, or when buying product on-line such as Amazon, Macy's, etc. Then having a second account for family and friends only. That is how it has worked out for me, anyway.

My husband has one account that he uses for everything and he gets all sorts of junk mixed in with family and friends emails. I can't convince him to separate them smileys/frown.gif

But I don't separate them either, and I don't get spam.I can't

explain why I don't get spam. My spam filter catches it--which I find out if and when I look in the spam folder and clean it out. it doesn't get through so it doesn't bother me until I think to look. I'm sure your method works well also--I just haven't had to do it. I do find that my friends who use yahoo get hacked a LOT.
