NFR-Suggestions: Larry may be in Toronto next Thursday-Sunday.

This is kind of unexpected: He'll be seeing friends Thurs & Friday, but will be free on Sat & Sunday. And he'll have a car. He likes museums, libraries, book stores, sports, good food, places to walk.

Any suggestions on what he should see, do, places to eat at? I suggested that Shakespeare Festival in Stratford. A Penna friend goes there every year.

Other than that, I'm at a loss.

I'd recommend Niagra-on-the-Lake - we just returned from there

about 1 1/2 hours from the city and fabulous (I think closer than Stratford) - we saw a play and a musical. The city is CHARMING - the main street is graced with beautiful plants and flowers.

If he can get in to see "Guys and Dolls" at the Shaw theatre he won't regret. Peller Winery Estate is 5 minutes away and a wonderful place for lunch.

I think Niagara would be a better bet than Stratford. Stratford is further and not so much to do/

see once he gets there. But Niagara on the Lake is an adorable town and a few minutes from Niagara Falls which he should not miss. If he could catch a play at the Shaw Festival there, that would be fun. And that is also wine country right there. It isn't time yet for that internationally famous icewine but it would make an ideal purchase from the region, maybe at duty free on the way out.

A lovely place to stay overnight in Niagara is the Prince of Wales.

Toronto has lots of long-running theatre, etc. that he could see. The Phantom of the Opera, for example, ran for 15 years and then returned a few years later. The friends might book something in that line.

Walking, not so much. Unlike the Germans, we just drive. It's a HUGE city (4th largest in N.A. including Mexico City), so cars are essential.

I'll check with John and see if he has any suggestions but they

always stayed in the airport area but if he/they had any free time they would venture out. He might have a restaurant suggestion.

T O R O N T O pronounced Tranna. Actually Traunna. Did you see Ben Affleck in Argo?

He was explaining to the American who had to maintain that he was from Toronto, how to pronounce it if he wanted to be believed.
