NFRC: Amazon seems to be providing 2-day UPS shipping for "free".

I always buy more than $25 and I always select "free shipping" and then wait the 7-10 days it takes to arrive via the post office.

I noticed last year when I got back from the UK mid-November that even though I was selecting the "free shipping" option, I was getting the item in 2 days delivered by UPS. Then, after the New Year, it went back to 7-10 days and postal service delivery.

My boss just ordered a carrying case for his personal laptop from Amazon, selected free shipping and it came in 1.5 days. I just ordered 4 oz canning jars yesterday (free shipping, of course, because it was $13.99 Shipping and I'm not stupid) and it's already being shipped via UPS.

It doesn't say this ANYWHERE that I can see, but I have to wonder if it's to encourage holiday shopping.

Catch-22: You can't depend on "free" 2-day delivery because you don't know if it will arrive sooner until it actually does.

I have prime (actually I share a prime) shhhhh

Both my friends and I each had prime. We used it alot but then realized you can have 4 family members on one prime account.... So we combined forces. Her husband, her, me and my husband are the four - we share the cost - $40 a couple. So it's even more affordable. (you link your individual amazon accounts to the prime member)

What I have noticed is that I order more often - since with prime there's usually no shipping charges - so we don't have to bundle items to meet the $25 minimum.

Also, the main account person is eligible to watch Amazon movies online for free. If you have a Blu-Ray you can watch them on your TV too. The other 3 people can't access the free movies with their accounts.

I have Prime and I love it. I buy everything from Amazon. So far

I save on taxes, gas to drive to stores and aggravation. It's amazing what they sell and at usually the best price. Thanks for the movie tip, Tess, I didn't know that
